Joss Whedon Has "No Immediate Plans" To Return To The Marvel-Verse, But Don't Worry, It'll Be "Around For Quite A While”

"I think having fulfilled that dream [of making superhero movies], I think I'm going to have to do something else. Have another dream, and that would mean sleeping," Joss Whedon told IGN about his possibility of returning to Marvel now that his three-year contract is up, following the completion of "Avengers: Age Of Ultron." And if you keep wishing or hoping that Whedon will back, he sounds like he's ready to movie.

Today was the big press run for the movie, with many stateside press finally seeing the picture, and the director and cast sitting down for interviews overseas, where 'Ultron' will open this Friday. And speaking with assembled press (via Flickering Myth), Whedon reiterated that Marvel is not part of his next career steps.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get that far away from it. I plan a rest – a longer rest – perhaps an eternal rest. I have no immediate plans,” he said. Man, dude really wants to put his up. But he stresses that as long as Kevin Feige around, Marvel is going to keep growing.

“[Kevin Feige is] not interested in making a formula; he’s interested in creating a universe,” Whedon stated. “How long will he do it for? Erm, until he dies? He’s interested in creating new versions of the superhero movies – something that doesn’t fall into a pattern. So it’s going to be around for quite a while.”

Indeed, Phase 3 is promising more movies through 2019, and certainly, that won't be the end of the Marvel-verse.

"Avengers: Age Of Ultron" hits stateside on May 1st. Check out a new featurette below.
