Joss Whedon Has "No Immediate Plans" To Return To The Marvel-Verse, But Don't Worry, It'll Be "Around For Quite A While”

"I think having fulfilled that dream [of making superhero movies], I think I'm going to have to do something else. Have another dream, and that would mean sleeping," Joss Whedon told IGN about his possibility of returning to Marvel now that his three-year contract is up, following the completion of "Avengers: Age Of Ultron." And if you keep wishing or hoping that Whedon will back, he sounds like he's ready to movie.

Today was the big press run for the movie, with many stateside press finally seeing the picture, and the director and cast sitting down for interviews overseas, where 'Ultron' will open this Friday. And speaking with assembled press (via Flickering Myth), Whedon reiterated that Marvel is not part of his next career steps.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get that far away from it. I plan a rest – a longer rest – perhaps an eternal rest. I have no immediate plans,” he said. Man, dude really wants to put his up. But he stresses that as long as Kevin Feige around, Marvel is going to keep growing.

“[Kevin Feige is] not interested in making a formula; he’s interested in creating a universe,” Whedon stated. “How long will he do it for? Erm, until he dies? He’s interested in creating new versions of the superhero movies – something that doesn’t fall into a pattern. So it’s going to be around for quite a while.”

Indeed, Phase 3 is promising more movies through 2019, and certainly, that won't be the end of the Marvel-verse.

"Avengers: Age Of Ultron" hits stateside on May 1st. Check out a new featurette below.

Variety's '10 Cinematographers to Watch' Highlights Indie DPs

Variety has published its annual list of "10 Cinematographers to Watch." The list is heavily indie-focused, highlighting DPs who have earned kudos for their work on low-budget projects for indie breakouts such as Ryan Coogler, Damien Chazelle, Diane Bell, Eliza Hittman, David and Nathan Zellner, Thomas Vinterberg, J.C. Candor, Ava DuVernay and others.

See the full list below (along with some of their most noteworthy credits) in the order listed by Variety:

Jarin Blaschke (Robert Egger's "The Witch")

Martin Ahlgren ("House of Cards")

Zak Mulligan (Diane Bell's "Obselidia")

Charlotte Bruus Christensen (Thomas Vinterberg's "The Hunt")

Sharone Meir (Damien Chazelle's "Whiplash")

Radium Cheung (Sean Baker's "Tangerine," J.C. Chandor's "All Is Lost")

Rachel Morrison (Ryan Coogler's "Fruitvale Station," Rick Famuyiwa's "Dope")

Sean Porter ("Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter," Eliza Hittman's "It Felt Like Love")

Nigel Bluck (Alain Choquart's "Ladygrey")

Bradford Young (Ava Duvernay's "Selma," J.C. Chandor's "A Most Violent Year")

They're a worthy lot who deserves all the attention they get. At the same time, the criteria for inclusion here is suspect: Alongside some of the newcomers, one can find established and award-winning DPs such as Rachel Morrison, Radium Cheung, Bradford Young and Sean Porter.

What do you think? Are there other worthy cinematographers who didn't make the cut? Share your suggestions in the comments section below.

'Age Of Adaline' Soundtrack Features Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Ella Fitzgerald And More

The soundtrack details for the upcoming Blake Lively vehicle “The Age of Adaline” have arrived: it's an eclectic and impressive mix of songs. The film, costarring Harrison Ford, Ellen Burstyn and Michiel Huisman, stars Lively as the Adaline Bowman, a woman born in 1908 who through a freak car accident is rendered immortal. Unable to age alongside those she cares about, Adaline ultimately eschews human relationships, opting for a life of solitude rather than one of romantic encounters. Until she meets Ellis Jones (Huisman).

The film's soundtrack is appropriately comprised of songs that dot the past hundred years. What might come as a bit of a head-scratcher —especially for those who’ve seen the trailer (watch it here if you’re not among them yet)— is the selection of songs and artists included on the soundtrack. The previews make the movie look like pretty standard romantic drama with a fantastical hook, not exactly the type that would include recordings from Jefferson Airplane and Bob Dylan, and yet there they are. The earliest recording included is Ella Fitzgerald and Chick Webb and His Orchestra’s “I’m Just a Jitterbug;” followed by a smattering of songs from the '50s, '60s, and '70s, and then far more recent tracks from Nancy McCallion, The Antlers, and Stephen Lu recorded since 2010.

The full track listing is below. The Age of Adaline” hits theaters this Friday. The soundtrack will drop on May 19th and is available for pre-order now. [via Film Music Reporter]
